What should I name this tragic romantic story that I'm writing for my English Class?
I’m writing this story in English Class- it’s kind of a tragic love story. It’s set in the 1850’s or 1870’s in America and it deals with love, jealousy, and revenge. It’s basically about a crazy love triangle between two beautiful half-sisters- Victoria Madeline Standish and Irena Evangeline Standish- and this boy they both fall in love with- Oliver David Enwright. Oliver is 18, Victoria is 17, and Irena is 14 (it was totally legal for an 18 year old to marry a 14 year old back then!)

There’s Victoria, the spoiled, self-centered older sister with the dark, sultry beauty and seductiveness that makes guys drool.(Think Megan Fox combined with another young brunette Hollywood beauty). Boys as young as 12 and men as old as 60 want her, and lots of young girls envy her striking looks. Despite all the guys that are inerested in her, Victoria never gets really serious with one man. She flirts with them, pretends to be really interested, and once she’s bored with the mind games and usery, she discards them like abandoned toys. But she spent the summer hanging out with Oliver and she’s madly in love with him.

Oliver is the handsome son of the town’s new mayor and the grandson of the founder of the town. He’s charming but a little reserved. His father epects him to be perfect and follow in his footsteps, but Oliver would rather choose his own path as a writer or a farmer-or both. At first he had been attracted to Victoria Standish because she was so good-looking and interesting, but he saw that she wasn’t really who he thought she was and has been distancing herself from her as his interest fades fast. Then, when he meets her 14 year old little half sister Irena, he’s smitten by her.

Irena Standish is instantly attracted to Oliver Enwright even though she knows her sister saw him first and is really interested in him- but that only makes her want him more. The Standish half-sisters never did get along because Victoria resents Irena (after Victoria’s mother died, her father married Irena’s mother and they had Irena. He seemed to love Irena and her mother more than he loved Victoria and her mother. Also, Victoria learns that the reason why her own mother commited suicide is because of Irena’s mother, which only fuels the resentment).

Desperate to win Oliver back from Irena, Victoria ruthlessly resorts to schemes to humiliate, alienate, and intimidate Irena. but nothing works. Irena and Oliver’s love for each other only deepens and they plan to marry against both parents’ wishes, even if it means running away. When Victoria learns about all of this and that Oliver has taken Irena to their special spot, her possessive obsession gets the better of her and she decides to murder Irena.

That actually sounds really gripping; I think it’d be so much fun as a writer to explore those characters. Just remember to do your research about the eighteen hundreds well. You don’t want incorrect information in your story.

Hmm, as for titles…

Deadly Romance sounds like some R.L Stine paperback. Nix that one.
Heart of Poison doesn’t really work…unless Victoria murders Irena via poison. But I think it would make more sense as a character that Victoria would want to kill Irena physically – especially because of all of her bottled-up resentment.
I Love You So Much I Could Kill You is waaay too long. Plus, it doesn’t make sense. Victoria doesn’t love Irena.
Murder, My Love is my favorite out of these. But the title kind of gives the plot away, if you know what I mean. You might want to just stick to something mysterious, like a flower – Oleander. Or you could call it Fortitude. Fortitude is the act of facing extreme trials or difficulties with a strong mind. It sounds to me that Oliver and Irena faced Victoria with fortitude.

These two are both produced by KyoAni (Kyoto Animation), who also did Clannad. IMO, KyoAni produce excellent animes.

I’m assuming that you’re into Shonen, so, I recommend the anime (And the manga of) Hellsing. It’s really amazing. It is an anime with vampires and other dark creatures. It’s action packed, and a little bit gory sometimes.

im in my teens, and when i was 10 my mum re married. my mum has always been abusive to me, but now my step dads worse. he hasnt got any kids of his own, and my older brother has moved out, so i only live with my mum and step dad. whenever he gets angry, he take sit out on my, and anything i do makes him angry. he always hits me with his belt and punches me and stuff, and its really making me depressed. im to scared to tell my mum, cause she hurts me to. i really wanna escape from it all – i cant even find escape in school cause im not exactly what u would call the ‘best kid’ teachers dont really get along with me and im usually in isolation for smokin and getin into fights and stuff – no real friends. i used to go in the shed and smoke when things got to hard for me, but my step dad found out and he locked it now. so i just go in my room, but even there he stil hurts me. im sorry this is a really long question, but i just need to get it out cause its just too much for me lately. what can i do?

It doesn’t matter if you are a bad student or if you have been in trouble in the past. Tell your councilor at school or even a teacher and if they do nothing then call the local police department. You shouldn’t have to stay in a home like that and you do have the choice to get out of it. You already seem to know that it is wrong now all you have to do is do something about it. Give yourself the chance at a better life.

I’m really sorry to hear about your predicament. This is a tough spot for anyones child to be in. My only suggestion for you would be to let someone know. You say that school is not an option but right now, that would be the first place to seek help. A school counselor, nurse or a favorite teacher maybe. Your not being the best student will not affect the help that will come of it. If you’re still uncomfortable, you can maybe say, "There’s this kid I know…."

From where I sit, there’s nothing holding you from asking for help. You can talk to a teacher, a guidance counsellor at school, call child protective services yourself, go to the police station, or go to a doctor. All of these people are required by law to take action to prevent further abuse once they have reason to suspect you are being abused. Telling them gives them pretty good reason to suspect you are being abused.

You have every right to be treated with love and, at the very absolute least, respect. You are getting neither.

Tell somebody. Get yourself removed from that home… with the proper supports to still go to school.

Then… the best revenge is living well. Go to school, work hard, graduate, and move into a career. Respect yourself… you are worthy… and do well in life. Stay away from drugs and alcohol. They may temporarily make you feel better, but they don’t actually improve anything.

Move into adulthood a successful young woman, leaving your mother, your stepfather, and your past wallowing in the gutter where it belongs.
